CoQ10: Coenzyme Q10 Supplements
Coenzyme Q-10 — also known as Co Q-10 — is an antioxidant with a variety of benefits.** Co Q-10 has been shown to support the cardiovascular system, cognitive function and nervous system health.** It also plays a role in helping the body convert food to energy.**
Coenzeyme Q-10 (a.k.a. Co Q10, CoQ10) is a powerful weapon in supporting heart health**. Co Q10 plays a key role in helping the body to convert food to energy, making Coenzyme Q-10 essential for energy production at the cellular level.** Some studies indicate that Coenzyme Q-10 may promote cognitive function and nervous system health.**
CoQ10 Supplements and Coenzyme Q10
In a study conducted by Berman et al. (2004), subjects consuming Co Q10 (Coenzyme Q-10) showed significant improvement in a six-minute walk test1. Other positive findings for Coenzyme Q-10 included breathing measures, heart health and fatigue. The administration of CoQ10 to subjects led to a significant improvement in functional status, quality of life and overall well being.
In another clinical trial, the effects of oral treatment with Coenzyme Q-10 (120 mg/day) were compared for one year in 144 subjects2. Co Q10 significantly increased the level of Vitamin E in the blood, supported healthy HDL levels (high-density lipoprotein, known as the “good” cholesterol), and reduced molecules that cause oxidative stress. Conversely, there was a significantly lower effect in the control group.
Coenzyme Q-10 BENEFITS
CoQ10 is an antioxidant which fights cell-damaging free radicals in the body.**
CoQ10 supports heart health.**
CoQ10 helps the body convert food to energy.**
CoQ10 may promote cognitive function and nervous system health.**
NOTE: Coenzyme Q-10 is often called Co Q10, Coenzyme Q10, CoQ10 or even q10 for short. CoQ10 supplements are popular with those researching heart health, cardiac health, myocardial health, antioxidant support, energy and ATP production, cognitive function, nervous system health and cholesterol maintenance. New studies on CoQ10 and its relationship to those on Statin drugs and CoQ10 and its relationship to those taking heart medication are being conducted.

Wow, great item!! I have done some research of my own on “CoEnzyme Q10” as my hubby has been looking at starting on cholesterol-lowering meds and was really surprised when research indicated that cholesterol lowering drugs my husband wants to take can actually decrease the body's supply of Coq10. These, “statins” as the drugs are termed act to inhibit the enzymes that are involved in cholesterol production, which takes place in the liver. Gee whiz, how great is that Then I read on that they also inhibit the production of Coq10 in the process! So the problem with Coq10 and statins is that while these drugs can help decrease cholesterol in the body, they are also depleting the important Coq10 my hubby needs.
On the other side of the coin his health is important and so I dug around online and found a site that offers Coq10 at some great prices. I figure if he can take the prescription statins and then offset it with affordable Coq10 we are square Found them at this site called Puritan.com (weird name!) and they have some great deals here http://www.puritan.com/coenzyme-q-10-055 like buy one get two free and they are way better than my local retailer had, plus with free shipping I save a ton on gas!. So now that we are all educated we can relish in the fact that there are simple ways to work around some of the supposed drawbacks of cholesterol drugs.
